THANX HOWIE Digital Rules 08-23-08, 12:46 PM dUZ anyone have experience with the WINEGUARD HD 1080 GOOD OR BAD?? THANX HOWIEAvoid the 1080 at all costs. It is a horrible performer on VHF and only so-so on UHF. If you are seeking a smaller; close to medium range; inexpensive antenna ; the Winegard HD7210P is a much better choice for the money ($45.00). Winegard has a new line of antennas that are designed for channels 7-69 that are a better choice for medium range to fringe areas; but they are a bit more expensive. I haven't used any of them; but the older HD7082 was less sensitive on UHF than the 7210 at my location??? I favor the Winegard HD antennas because of their waterproof 75 ohm coax connection: and their durability. No 300 to 75 ohm transformer is needed with them. afiggatt 08-23-08, 11:23 PM dUZ anyone have experience with the WINEGUARD HD 1080 GOOD OR BAD?? THANX HOWIE Can't speak for the HD-1080, but there have been mixed reports for upper VHF reception for it. It can work for short to the short side of medium range distances. But if you want antenna advice, post your zip code and a description of your location (house or apartment/condo, down in a valley or not) or post your tvfool.com results. We need to look up the range & directions to your local digital stations, what actual channels are they currently on and what channels will they be on after next February 17. |
