View Full Version : Madden. A pain in the butt
DerekinMerrick 08-23-08, 03:47 PM This game is kinda annoying. Does anyone think this. You play the game and get the dork who rushes every play and goes down for a 90 yard drive for a touchdown. Then you throw 5 interceptions with a good quarterback. Then you punt on 4th and 7 and they go on 4th and 23 it bounces off two defenders into their hands for a 1st down when it was an easy pick. I dont know about this game people. I am starting to see why the reviews are not so high. Anyone else see this?
Is this online against people? If not. Those are major offline issues.
NeighborMike 08-23-08, 04:00 PM learn to play better?
DerekinMerrick 08-23-08, 04:10 PM Yeah online. It seems that for some reason the computer knows how to play football better then the internet dorks. Its not play better its play football. Going for it on 4th and 23 and getting it is stupid. That would never happen in football. It should be harder on 4th or something like that.
Pharcyde23 08-23-08, 04:24 PM Haven't come across anyone that goes for it on a 4th and 20 but all of my online games have been very low scoring, like 7-3 or 7-0. However, the more I play the better I'm getting at moving my offense down the field.
One thing that is a major draw back for me with online play is the none responsive action moves. I will hit RS to juke and nothing happens, same with A for stiff arm etc..There's an obvious lag for these moves and they have to be pressed a full second a head of time before the player will perform the given action. This takes the joy out of the running game for me as all inside runs are just forward motion and then getting tackled. Besides that I do find this madden a notch above the previous "next gen" releases.

Packer fans across the globe wish you were correct on something like 4th and 23 never happening........unfortunately, 4th and 26 in the NFC divisional playoff game vs the eagles in 2004, will haunt us for a long, long time
ShaqDan 08-23-08, 08:22 PM Not being good at a game is hardly a reason to give it a poor score.

Tenkaipalm 08-23-08, 09:19 PM What's a "bad" review?
nnarum23 08-24-08, 11:05 AM If they're going to run, put 8 in the box. Step up your defense...
Nayhova 08-24-08, 11:11 AM I can understand griping about a glitch or a flaw in the game but it just sounds like your not very good buddy. On the pass that got deflected, the Madden gods where not shining on ya. :(:(
DerekinMerrick 08-24-08, 11:36 AM I have been playing madden for years. I usuallly kill people. All the scores are low. And this game is off. You cant pass like the other ones. If you disagree you havent played the older ones much.

I find 09 to be a very pass heavy affair. That's not to say the running game is broken; it's just much easier to pass this year than to run IMO.

If you haven't realized that you have to do more then just simply pressing the button to pass then you really need to do pratice runs on the game. No you can't pass like the older wants because all you did was press the button for the reciever. The analog stick is your friend in combination with your reciever choice.

I played the older ones a ton. The passing in 09 isn't off, it's different. Lead passing is more important, and the velocities have been adjusted to be more realistic.
I dunno, I think from purely a gameplay standpoint, this is the best Madden yet. It takes more effort and concentration this year to move the ball against a strong defense.
Villanman 08-24-08, 05:39 PM I've played Madden every year since year one.
I don't have any issues with the passing in 09.
Could some of the OP's issues be caused by playing people with a lower skill setting? I haven't played online but in offline multi the skill settings seem to balance the game between players. If the skill settings were off though it could easily cause some problems.
RAVEN56706 08-25-08, 09:05 AM madden is fine to me.... even though i am playing NFL head coach more

lol that was the 1st thing that popped into my mind when i read his comment. i feel for you, man
bdwright77 08-25-08, 06:07 PM passing is different, and took some getting used to, but I really enjoy it. It seems to require better foot placement on your qb (cant be scrambling backwards across the field anymore and throw off one foot) and also that your receiver be in good position and at the appopriate point during his route.
The physics of the pass have been upgraded as well, and QBs throw to where the receiver will be, rather than where they are when the button is mashed.
On the other hand, I have a friend who sold the game back 10 days later because he never got a touchdown and threw like 25 picks. There is a learning curve to the new passing mechanics / physics, and some peeps wont have the patience for it.
saunupe1911 08-25-08, 07:52 PM just practice buddy. I think the defensive run AI is a little strong and the offensive lineman don't hold there blocks. But other than that, the AI is perfect. I personally think NCAA 09 AI is better though.
