So I get on to play my franchise. Few plays in disc unreadable. Open it to check the disc and OMFG a nice circular scratch that goes about 1/4 around the disc. Will xbox man up and replace it or is there any way to repair the disc. It looks more like a scrape than a scratch...

A DiscDoctor type resurfacing product is just about your best bet. Regardless, don't play discs on that 360 anymore. Go buy a new one.

Did you hear it grind? I thought this only happened when the system is moved.

EA may replace your disc for you for free.

I thought that the days of disc scratching were over. I'd call up MS and tell them what happened. See what they say. Perhaps it is a known issue with a certain range of serial numbers.

I had the same thing happen to me with FIFA08. Lots of grinding noises with that disc when I first got it, and then the disc ended up with circular scratches on it. I couldn't do the simple thing, which would be to exchange it at the game store, because I had it from gamefly.

I polished the disc pretty easily with toothpaste and some q-tips. You can find some tips on how to do this out in the internets, but the main thing is to use very soft strokes and scrub it radially, not centrifically. Rinse it off continually as you work at it to monitor your progress. I polished out the circular scratches and the disc has been fine ever since.

It seems to me a lot of these EA Sports discs either have bad pressings or something resulting in persistent dde's. I've had dde issues with a number of EA Sports releases, and several times I've exchanged the disc for a new one at the local gamestop and the problem's fixed.

Yeah but unfortunately its not true at all

I had a friend that went through 3 RB6 disks by being scratched. I myself had 3 COD4 disks ate(I sent the console off for repair). Neither console was moved in anyway, shape, or form. Mine had set in the exact same spot horizontally since launch

The customer support guy said that games have a 90 day warranty and to return it to where I bought it. That sounds kinda cheezy. I bought it from walmart, but i dont really see them saying oh ok here is another.

I've heard that as well but my xbox also wasn't moved when it happened.

Actually there really good about it. I had a console before that scratched a disk real bad. Sent it in for repair and took back the game to wal-mart for a new one. As long as you do not want some thing else and want the same game. No issue at all.

If thats true, then it's DVD Drive is still under warranty. Call MS, and tell them its ruining disks. They'll have you send it in for repair (should't cost you a dime). I wouldn't risk any other disks being ruined when you can get the drive replaced for free.

Walmart is very good at standing by what they sell. I doubt they would give you any trouble at all in replacing the disk.

Wal Mart should swap the disc with no issues. I've had good experiences with them.
