Which OPPO do you recommend for the sole purpose of using the HDMI out feature to listen to DVD-Audio and SACD discs? I already have a top of the line DVD player, so I'll continue to use that to watch standard DVD's. I just want the option to bitstream these codecs via HDMI to my processor.

Does it make sense to go all the way to the 983 if I'm just going to use the player for DVD-A and SACD - or is this player the best for that purpose?

For HDMI audio they are all equivalent, with the exception of the 980 which adds DSD over HDMI. It is also the cheapest at $169.
