Hi:

I would like to know if there are folks out there with experience with multiple processors from the "Big Three" companies. I would be especially interested in comparisons of reliability and Tech Support/Customer Service for these companies.

I mainly am interested in anamorphic stretch and deinterlacing for an RS1. I DO have a processor from one of the above companies that I am not too happy with but will refrain from mentioning which one, both to avoid upsetting folks/violating forum rules and to avoid biasing any answers to my question.

Bottom line: if I replace the one I have, I would like the best shot at avoiding more problems.

I you wish to reply privately (probably best if you have a strong opinion), see the following page for my email (I have PM turned off).

I have now owned two Lumagen VPs and been very happy with both. No problems with either - wish I could say the same about the other components in my system - and their tech support/pace of new features is close to world-class. Owned DVDO boxes some years ago - also no problems - but was not nearly so neurotic about video back then so is probably not a useful comparison.

Lumagen: Fixes problems reasonably quickly, sometimes adds features to older models, tells us what the status updates are. (from what I can see on this forum, anyway)

DVDO: Still things broken in the VP50 that have been reported for quite a while. Firmware updates always include regressions. Status updates not often given. I have a VP50 and regret it. Also, the VP50 was supposed to include noise reduction but it never has and they do not seem to plan to. They want us to pay extra for a VP50 pro to get a feature advertised for the VP50, and their noise reduction is laughable compared to Algolith's or Realta. Edit: Or Gennum. How did I forget them?

I've also owned two Lumagen processors over the past three years. I've been really pleased by how the product features have envolved over this time with new functionality being added via software updates. I've also found Lumagen to be quick to respond to issues and open to user feedback regarding feature development. :)

I have owned both DVDO and Lumagen (VP50 pro and RadianceXD). Put my vote down for Lumagen RadianceXD.

Another vote of confidence for the Lumagen. I have the HDP and love it. The gamma and grey scale adjustments are very versatile and work very well.

I have owned a VP50 and currently own a Lumagen RadianceXD and HDQ. I vote very strongly for Lumagen for the same reasons stated by others here.
