Why does the sony dvp-ns700h/b lack divx support ?, I am curious because the uk version(DVPNS708H) has divx support.
I find it pretty funny because it's usually uk/europe that get screwed out of features with sony.
It's always been my theory that sony doesn't want us customers to have xvid/divx support-don't ask me why, though.

Because Sony owns couple movie studios. Divx = pirated movie in Sony's mind.

Not that it affects me in anyway since I live in the uk, I just find it strange.

The only reason PS3 gets DIVX is to compete with XBox 360. I believe all the major brands of DVD players in Europer support DIVX playback. Not so in US although it started to change a bit but certainly not a big factor for ppl to pick one over another.
