In looking for speaker stands, I noticed that most of the top plates used for speaker stands are around 6" x 6" (even ones for heavy bookshelf speakers). This seems a bit small for a speaker that is say, for example, 8" x 11". Is that much overhang okay, or should I look for speaker stands that utilize a larger top plate?

Thanks, I did find a couple with a bigger top plate. It just seems odd that many manufacturers use smaller top plates.

I use these and they work out good. The listing says the top plate is 8 3/4" X 9 3/4" but I measured mine and they are 9" X 10". They may have made them smaller since I've had them for like 5 years now. Hope this helps.
