I cannot decide between minidv and HDD.

I love how fast HDD transfers, and I dont think I would edit at all.
I dont like minidv being real time transfer...

I dont have much to spend but here would be my choices.

The new sony HC52 minidv can get for around $160-$180 (retails for $249)open box from circuit city.. OR a JVC everior MG355 30GB HDD for $275 BRAND new in box.(retails for $400-$500)

I think I would rather have the JVC but I keep reading that the video quality is alot better on a mini dv.

since the minidv i can afford is cheap am I even gonna see a difference??

Thank you.

DV is better than SD HDD with all other things being equal.

Yes but it is going to be noticably better for someone just looking family videos and stuff.

Yes but it is going to be noticably better for someone just looking family videos and stuff. That would be a matter of opinion and without comparing both camcorders you will never know.

Sony HC52 vs JVC MG355. I use to have a Sony HC40, and it is about the worse of the Sony MiniDV series. But the JVC355 seems to have a lot of complaints about low light and poor vidoe quality.

But can you handle the video from either one? If so, I would go the the HC52.
