I just moved into a new house and I'm having some issues with the cable TV (Time Warner). I've got a new Toshiba LCD with a built in QAM tuner, but the TV will only pick up the analog channels when I scan - it doesn't find any digital channels at all. This TV picked up the digital channels fine at my other house. I've tried two older TVs in this room and they also get extremely poor reception. However, if I hook these same TVs up downstairs in the basement (where the cable splitter is), the reception is just fine and clear.
1) Is it possible that it's just a bad coaxial cable that needs replacing? If so, what is the recommended coax to buy?
2) Would a set-top box from Timer Warner help at all, or would a faulty coaxial cable still cause a poor image?
3) Could it be something besides a bad cable?
The flow: coaxial cable --> splitter (1 input, 2 output) --> upstairs TV (poor reception) and downstairs TV (good reception)
Thanks!
