View Full Version : Service Menu
jarrod1937 08-28-08, 10:01 AM Hello, i'm sure this has been asked a billion times, and for that i do apologize.
But, where do people generally get the service menu access codes from? I've attempted to contact customer support, but sadly they can't give that information. I've searched the web, and can't find the code. However, my calibration efforts are severely hindered without it. I would assume service stations and ISF certs are given access to a database which contains them. But, i have no ties with anyone of that sort.
I have an Acer PH530.
Any ideas/sources which may help in my search?
Thank you

Some people just have to buy the service manual. Most ISF people have to do that at some point in time. Then they might share that with other calibrators ... but it is a give and take proposition rather than a take take take one.
Regards
jarrod1937 08-28-08, 10:41 AM Thanks, i found a service that provided the service manual for about $9. Though i don't mind sharing the service menu combo, its:
Power, source, source, up
I'm assuming i can also have it listed in the "BruZZi's Service Menu Access Codes" thread?
I just called customer service.....

Interesting, they said they could not give me that information... oh well, only cost me $9 and i have the entire service manual.

I came on the check for this information as I am going to be calibrating soon. Can't thank you enough for sharing that info, I am sure its appreciated by more than just me.

Well, perhaps you can test it for me then. I just got around to being able to try it, and from what i can tell, it sadly does nothing. Though it is the combo stated in the service manual.
Tr3vWh0r3 08-28-08, 06:33 PM Sorry man, I tried it as well and no luck. Does it give any other info?
jarrod1937 08-28-08, 06:43 PM Click here (http://s28.photobucket.com/albums/c208/jarrod1937/?action=view¤t=sservice_menu2.jpg) to see two quick screencaps from the manual. Thats all it says.
Tr3vWh0r3 08-28-08, 06:48 PM Unreal, I did just that and nothing. The screen appears to look for sources and then comes back to HDMI and stays there.
Tr3vWh0r3 08-28-08, 06:55 PM Could be that you have to do the combo on the projector itself and not with the remote.

I use a harmony remote, since the original died on me. And since the harmony makes it difficult to enter that particular sequence i tried it on the projector directly, and still a no go. Quite odd really. And annoying, i got my probe ready to go, got it working and have the color calibrated the best i can, with just the user menu settings...
Tr3vWh0r3 08-28-08, 07:01 PM This is frustrating. If I can figure it out I will surely let you know and if you come across anything I would love to hear as well. What probe are you using?

What probe are you using?Just the i1 Display 2 colorimeter, nothing fancy. At first it seemed inaccurate, but after finding the highest luma angle, it worked pretty well.
Tr3vWh0r3 08-28-08, 07:26 PM That's the one I am getting so good to hear it works well.
jarrod1937 08-28-08, 10:07 PM Got it!
I figured that since most products are simply revisions of the last, that perhaps the service menu codes from one of the newer products would work. And it seems the menu combo for the PH730 also works in the PH530, or at least the revision you and i have.
To enter the service menu press:
Power -> Left -> Left -> Menu
The last code must have been for a different revision.
P.s. If that is the same model probe/sensor you're getting then i would recommend scanning my most recent topic (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1060714). There is some good advice and techniques on using it for the projector.
Tr3vWh0r3 08-29-08, 12:18 AM That's awesome man, thanks for letting me know. I tested it out and it works. When you do the grayscale let me know how it turns out and how far off it was. Look forward to trying it myself.
hypez604 11-20-08, 02:42 AM I found this thread kinda late.... but as a PH530 owner I will also try the service menu, in an effort to get better control of the color parameters for calibration purposes.
Thanks a lot for getting the service menu combo jarrod1937!!!
I love having service menu's for my screens because it usually allows me to calibrate a bit more accurately.
I will report in a few days if the gain controls on the PH530 do anything or not.
