I always wondered about this feature and what exactly is it all about, what I am supposed to be looking to change if I use this feature?. Do people actually use this feature on their HDTVs?, or do most turn it off?.

View Full Version : DNR should this be turned off or is it a good feature? Gslide 08-28-08, 10:54 AM I always wondered about this feature and what exactly is it all about, what I am supposed to be looking to change if I use this feature?. Do people actually use this feature on their HDTVs?, or do most turn it off?. Michael TLV 08-28-08, 11:05 AM Greetings Used on cable and satellite viewing for noisy lower quality signals. Calibrators tend to leave it off ... and say the source is the source. You can't rescue VHS quality sometime no matter how much NR you do to it. :) Regards Gslide 08-28-08, 12:09 PM Thanks for the reply So that feature is basically beneficial for when watching SD channels on a HDTV? but does that in return hurt the quality of the HDTV channels, or it doesn't affect it at all? Michael TLV 08-28-08, 12:52 PM Greetings It has a softening effect on the image when left on. May smear fine detail ... Sort of like degrading all the best looking stuff so that the worst looking stuff looks a wee wee bit better. That's just plain wrong thinking though!!! :D Regards Gslide 08-28-08, 01:52 PM *Turns off DNR* :) Tr3vWh0r3 08-28-08, 02:22 PM Kinda like airbrushing in magazines. I hope they keep the magazine DNR feature on though. D-6500 08-28-08, 03:57 PM Count it in the box of Sales & Marketing Tools: -DNIE -Auto Black Level -Auto Contrast -Skin-tone correction -Digital NR ............. (this list is far & away incomplete!) :) Edo Gálvez 08-28-08, 04:09 PM The 'fresh' series of LG too! Fresh color, fresh contrast and there was another one I forgot its name... |
