I'm looking to buy either one of the subject cameras and can't make up my mind. I know the Canon is far more popular than the Sanyo but like the form factor of the 1010.

I've read all the reviews and there are pros and cons to each. Anyone have additional experience with them, particularly the 1010 as this unit is less popular with fewer reviews?

Thanks in advance.

I happen to have a few home videos shot by these 2 camcorders. The scene was by the swimming pool. I have to say there is definitely something wrong with Sanyo's codec---its 15Mbps recording was terrible, much worse than Canon's 12Mbps recording. The water surface looked very blocky and noisy on HD1010.
The pq is unbearable even its SD brother (say CG65) looks better after upconverting to HD res.
