So I just bought an elite off the Dell deal, which has become my main Xbox360 now. I used the data transfer cable and transfered all my old content on the 20gig to the new 120gig. I'll be taking the elite back with me to my new apartment. Problem is my sister is in the middle of playing GTAIV. Is there a way to transfer her save file to my older 20gb HDD so she can still play it on my older unit? And also play the saved game under a new gamertag?

To prevent various abuses (including with achievements), game saves are usually tied to a particular Gamertag. Hence, even if you could find a way to migrate the save, you'd probably be out of luck playing it with a different Gamertag.

That'd be a tough break to tell my 15 yr old sis that she needs to start her game over after spending half her summer getting to where she is now at over 75% completion. Man this sucks.

find a used memory card at a gamestop or something. save her gamertag and the GTAIV data to it. transfer it to the old xbox. Return the memory card to gamestop for your refund.

I believe he said (or implied) that the sister was playing on his console, using his Gamertag. If she recovers his Gamertag onto another console, it's endless grief and pain for him, so that's certainly not the solution. So instead, she wants to create a new Gamertag to play with on this other console, right? But now the saved game data is tied to the original Gamertag and probably won't work, or at least that's the way I see it.

Yeah, her save is on MY gamertag. So it's pretty much hopeless huh. Thats unfortunate..
