So I have the soon to be release Samsung SC-MX20 on pre-order and noticed the specs saying the camcorder is H.264 and MultiCodec.

So here is my dumbass question, does this mean if I wanted to I could import the video from the Samsung into Windows Movie Maker (no flaming please) if I wanted to ??

The MultiCodec list MPEG-2 as one of the formats and I cant remember if WMM is compatable with MPEG-2.

I dont even really know what MultiCodec is or what is does or if it has any pros or cons as far as video editing.

And yes, I did search online for the answers.

Any help for my dumbass question would be nice.

Thanks in advance.
Cheers

H.264 info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H.264

"MultiCodec" is a vague term. If it really want to know, you might start by e-mailing Samsung support.

H.264 will not import into Windows Movie Maker.

Windows Movie Maker on Vista Premium and Ultimate systems will import MPEG-2 Program Streams:

Thanks for the reply Rich.

Yes, I thought about emailing Samsung but I had figured by the time they got back to me I would have the camera already.

And yes, I do know H.264 will not import into Movie Maker.

An intesteresting artical I just found today on the Samsung did talk about the MultiCodec, it said the camera supports MPEG-2, MPEG-4 and H.264 so I guess that would be the answer to my thread question.
