PROBLEM: noticed lag in the audio btw my 360 Elite & Toshiba 57LX177

TEST: connected a pair of ear force x4 headphones to my 360 (via optical) while leaving my 360 connected to my TV via HDMI

RESULT: sound comes thru the TV's speakers about .5 - 1sec after I hear it thru the x4's.

There is no delay between the time I press a button & when an action occurs on-screen (called input lag I think) just this audio lag.

TV SOLUTIONS: I have tried turning all the post processing options both on & off & the lag is the same. I have also turned the TV's HDMI settings (lip-sync, deep color, xvYCC) both on & off & the lag remains.

360 SOLUTIONS: I switched the display mode to 720p & tried the other audio format settings. Lag is still there.

Just hoping anyone may have a suggestion on what else I can try.
Thanks in advance for any help.

The problem seems to definitely have something to do with the audio signal over HDMI. I say this as there does not seem to be any audio lag when I use standard A/V cables from the HDMI dongle to carry the audio signal to the TV. Whether the problem lies with the 360 or the Toshiba TV, or the combination of the 2, I'm unsure. But the audio lag is there when using the HDMI to carry my 360's audio signal. I even tried 2 HDMI inputs on the TV & the audio lag occurs with both.

EDIT: I used my PS3's HDMI cable in place of the M$ one & the audio lag is still there.

EDIT 2: Interestingly, when playing my PS3 there is no audio lag at all, even when using the same HDMI cables to carry audio to the same TV inputs.

I've not experienced any issue like that when using HDMI audio out from the 360. I'd assume that your TV has the typical junky speakers. So, I doubt you're going to notice the difference in sound quality between HDMI audio and analog audio via the "HDMI audio" dongle. For best sound quality, there are two topologies that work. First is HDMI=>Home Theater Receiver=>TV via HDMI. The second is HDMI=>TV and Toslink optical via audio dongle=>Home Theater Receiver. Sending audio via HDMI to the TV and then either listening on the built-in crap speakers, or trying to send Toslink optical audio out from the TV to a home theater receiver, are both sub-standard. The former requires no explanation, while the latter, is limited to 2 channel stereo due to the fact that no TV will pass 5.1 DD or DTS received via HDMI, out the Toslink optical port.
