so i bought a Sanyo HD1000 camcorder. I purchased it mostly for its "fit-in-your-pocket" size...which it does quite well.

my problem is that the image stabilization is absolutely horrible. i dont even think it works at all. i have about 2hrs worth of footage and when i tried to watch it on my TV, i was getting nauseous. lol. its not that bad...but it was so shakey that it was almost unwatchable.

so i was originally going to go with the Canon HF100 b/c it got really good reviews across the board, but b/c i wanted something pocket-sized i went with the sanyo. now im finding size isnt worth the tradeoff for no image stabilization.

how well does the HF100 image stabilization work? does the stabilization work good at both regular and zoomed in? the sanyo was OK (at best) when zoomed fully out. the second you zoomed in even a little, it was all over the place.

thanks in advance for all replies.

Thought I would bump up this thread to see if anybody had a response. I am also curious.

How do you shoot your video? Walking / Standing in place / etc.

I believe if you are walking while actually recording then you will get "shaky" video unless you are using any video/camcorder stabilizer like Merline, Hague, Steadytracker, etc.

When I am standing and recording video, I can get fairly steady (non-shaky) videos with my Canon HF100.

The consensus seems to be that the IS on the canon's is OK, but not as good as the Sony's.

In the normal zoom range I don't have much shake, but of course full zoom magnifies any shake correspondingly and I find than on full zoom, unless I'm stable (sitting or standing still) I will get shake.
