Your cables are fine, anything from Monoprice is good quality. I have purchased all of the above items you list from Monoprice and they are great. Do not place the sub behind the TV stand place it behind you, you will not get the full effect with the sub behind the stand and also you may drown out your front speakers.

Congrats on your setup. Home Theater is such a subjective and personal opinion thing - conceptual more than anything.

So, I offer our concept for your consideration - nothing negative or critical of your wonderful sounding setup intended.

We upgraded (finally!) our analog 36in tv over a year ago to a very nice (for a tv) 56in RP HD 1080p - the picture is everything we wanted and expected it to be.

We define Home Theater as attempt in a home environment to emulate or create as near as possible experience to Commercial Theater so while the TV is great for watching television stuff we're glad we went the other direction for when we want to dim the lights, pop popcorn and have a WOWEEE Home Theater experience and that direction was front projector aimed at a screen that allows a near 10 ft diagonal movie image in HD.

So, if your room will allow consideration instead of upgrading a tv to 1080p instead consider spending about the same (if you are a careful shopper) or even less and go front projector. Having both is the perfect solution. Yesterday it was raining and I watched two movies on the HD TV. Had to have room lights on as the missus wanted lights on and her laptop fired up and she was playing with all her camera bodies and lenses.

Today, however, while she is out shooting pictures I will have the lights down and go from TV to Home Theater and I've got two movies all lined up for the "show" - a real double feature with a real movie screen just can't be beat!

We had no idea what HT could mean and be until that day we first dimmed the lights and experienced Home Theater for the first time.

Of course, not all rooms or houses or people can accomodate projection to screen like Commercial Theaters do to achieve those GREAT BIG images and you describe a very, very nice setup to be happy with and very proud of - just consider if projection would work for you before you buy another tv.
goodluck

I'm still waiting to hear about the home theater. I see a listing of components which appear to be for a living room, but nothing about the home theater room the OP supposedly finally got.

The components look very nice. KEF makes great speakers and those look "space age". The placement of the subwoofer may take experimenting. "Standing Waves" can be annoying and peculiar.

My question regards the coax cable. I have not used regular RG6 for RCA interconnects. Does this work well? Electronically it will work but the cable is not as pliable because of the solid central core that comes in RG6.

Also for the RG6 you may want to consider quad shield. Do you do your own terminations? These are fun to do with the handheld tools available today.

What I would do (and this may not be the best) would be to use RG6 quad shield with nice terminations on the ends for the incoming cable signal and then just use nice high quality RCA interconnect cables for the rest. Either terminated already or put terminations on them.

I have the Panasonic 42 inch 42PZ700U and also the 42PX25 plasmas. They are very nice. As imjay mentioned the projector is a great option these days. But the 42 inch plasma is also a great experience. My next purchase is going to get more screen with the 46 inch 850 from Panasonic. They have slimmed down the displays so they can fit in tighter spaces.

Here is an irrelevant thought for the future: Belkin, Monster and Geffen are both bringing wireless HDMI technology to home theater. By 2010, going without cables may make monetary sense.
