Hi guys, even though I had a Sharp Aquos LC45GX6U for almost 3 years, and tried using only the DVE (DVD edition) as my only source for calibration, I would like to take another step on getting as much as I can from my TV. I have been reading the GREYSCALE & COLOUR CALIBRATION FOR DUMMIES (by the way, great work) and just send for the EYE LT to start. If some of you find the following question funny, please excuse my lack of knowledge but that is why got to this great forum. Here it goes, the guide mentions RGBlow and RGBhi, how these two metrics map two the advanced controls on the CMS of the Aquos. It has CMS HUE, CMS Saturation and CMS Value and Color Temp. Please, for anyone who had calibrated their aquos using the guide or knows the answer, your input will be much apreciated.

Thanks :)b

Greetings

RGB low and high are for grayscale controls. (Black and white part of TV)

CMS is not grayscale. Two different animals. (Color part of the TV)

Ok, thanks for your answer. Then what control on the Aquos would be used for RGB low and Hi adjustment?

Greetings

In the service menu. Depends on what input types you are using ...

Master grayscale is a 6 point gamma system ... RGB controls for each point ... 3x6=18 controls in all.

The system does not always work right on the sets though ... so beware.

Ok, got my hands on the service manual for this model (LC-45GX6U). The X-Rite Eye-One Display LT is on its way so I should be doing the first data gathering soon. From your last post, do you recommend touching the service menu or just stick with the available options on the tv interface? Your advice will be welcome. My objective is as I mentioned before is to get the most on this set.

PS: I read that there is a software upgrade for this set. Do you know if that is true? I bought my Dec-05

If you want the best then, yes, getting into the service menu will be required. However, just be sure you know what you're doing when in there, and never mess with a setting if you're not sure.
