Hi guys. I have an xbox 360 with the HDMI output, but it's not an Xbox elite. Can I connect my xbox to my receiver through an HDMI cable, and then connect the receiver to my TV via an HDMI cable?

By doing this, I should be able to get both sound and video, right? Also, does my 360 with the HDMI produce high def audio, like DTS True Audio and DD Master Audio?

Thanks for answering my noob questions.

Does your receiver support audio through HDMI?

Then yes, it should work. Of course, HDMI is about as finicky as it comes. :(

Thanks Shape.

What kind of video does the 360 with HDMI output? 1080p, 1080i, 720, etc? And does it do High def audio like DTS True Audio?

It will do 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p. Whatever you choose (assuming your TV supports it).

No, it won't do any of the HD audio formats. But it will do Dolby Digital at full bit rate 640kb/s (unlike DVDs, which are just 448kb/s). And it also does WMA Pro, but only certain Pioneer receivers support this.
