I've got a question about NXE. Is it installed on the 360 or the HDD? I'm curious as to what happens if I bring my HDD to my friends 360's which he can't put online because he doesn't have regular internet (using the cell phone carrier for his internet). Will it install on his 360? And what if one 360 has NXE and the other doesn't and they're linked? Will they still interface okay over a local network match?

It will defaintly update. I bought a pro or whatever thier calling it these days, and out my NXE elite HDD (this was before NXE was public) on it and it updated.

As for lan. I don't really know

There is supposed to be a way for you to download the update onto a CD/DVD and then run it from that for non Internet connected Xboxes, but after 10 minutes of search, I couldn't find it on Xbox.com. You might want to pursue it further than me. I honestly don't know how it would react, since NXE is stored on the hard drive, not on the 360 hardware itself.

NXE is also stored on the console, as I had to take my HDD of my elite (microsoft 1-800 number after my elite RROD) and it still booted up to the NXE dashboard.

"I bought a pro or whatever thier calling it these days"

The middle version of the console has never been called anything but an "Xbox 360". Pro, Premium, etc are just names that people have made up for it.

Thanks for the good info guys. Minus the lan part, this is the info that I needed.

More or less true until last year.
(The launch 20 GB models with the bundled remote were Officially Premium 360's *packages* which later got mis-interpreted into applying to all the 20GBs...)
The mid-range is now semi-officially the Pro, though.

Right on the boxes; "go Arcade", "Go Pro", "go Big". ;)

"Right on the boxes; "go Arcade", "Go Pro", "go Big"."

So people with a black 360 have an "Xbox 360 Big"? It's a marketing slogan, not the name of the product.

I think for lunch I'm going to go to the local "I'm Lovin' It" and get a Big Mac with a "Live on the Coke side of Life" to drink.

Maybe I should go buy an "Xbox 360 Play" after that tasty meal.

each theme has a set number of environments (5 or 6?) and they just rotate through the friends list, somewhat random.

I consider this a missed opportunity on MS part.. They could have allowed each user to set his own avatar background or it could be based on the last game played... It's pretty lame having someone playing Tiger Woods 2009 with their background being spaceships...

agreed.... it would have virtually killed home apartments in the process as well (if each person could customize their place in the friends list). i have a feeling that still may be coming in future updates though. this is just the first attempt at nxe and there are a bunch of things that will get improved/fixed.

I hope so as well. and Maybe you could click on them and see sort a slice of there apartment with various achivements that they picked out.

well guys don't for get that each premium theme is still a bit beefy in size. those backgrounds could add to the pretty crisp load times of the friends channel.

How hard is it to unhook the Netflix from a console? I ask cuz my sis already has Netflix and I was going to use her account to check it out and if I like it I will get one of my own. I just don't want to mess anything up for me or her by using her account though.

Your only allowed to watch on stream at a time. So if you were to watch something she wouldn't be able to.
Basically you install the component and the goto netflix\activate online and enter the key. Was pretty simple. If she doesn't use the online at all you could split the cost or just do the 8.99 value with one movie at a time. I get my bluerays through them and watch the old stuff from online.

Nope. I've watched two different things on my two 360s at the same time.

you are allowed to have as many streams going at once as you are allowed DVDs at once. So if you're on the 3 at a time plan you can have 3 different devices streaming under one account. the streaming only plan allows for only one stream.
