I am looking at the current crop of Panasonic DV cameras (SD card storage, e.g. SDR-S7K, or HDD storage) and they have apparently gone away from DV (Firewire) output ports in favor of USB 2.0. Other makers such as JVC also seem to have switched to USB 2.0.
But the Panasonic (and other) DVD recorders, which are a handy way to back up digital video from a DV camera, all still seem to use DV inputs! As far as I can tell, the Panasonic DVD recorders such as DMR EZ28 don't support DV input via USB.
Are we being forced to do video to PC first?
