View Full Version : Sony Picture Utility Browser question

I am using a SR-1 and PMB to create my dvds. I have several clips stored (over a year and a half of a new baby that I don't want to lose!). I have made my dvds to keep but am interested in storing my files also on a back up hard drive just to be safe. These files are eating up the memory on my laptop hard drive!

However, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to move the files. I can't seem to find them in my directory. And when I do stumble across some files, it is encoded so strangely that I can't tell what anything is. Can someone tell me how to move my files to my external hard drive so I can free up some space on my computer drive? This seems like it should be simple, but I am figuring out that Sony has not made much simple with their software for these HD camcorders!

I saved the actual browser to my external hard drive - but when I open it, you can see the files I actually downloaded today and I know I did not back them up or move them to my external hard drive, so I am getting a false sense of security about the whole thing. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Also, is there any benefit - other than being able to play video on standard dvd player - to convert files to SD as well? I have made all my disks in AVCHD format b/c we can play it on our Sony Blu-Ray player. Just worried about 20 years from now and when I actually want to watch these, if I will have regretted not having a SD format disk as well.
