So I've gotten around to uploading some footage that I took on a recent trip with my brand new Panasonic HDC-HS100 that I purchased two weeks ago. It was somewhat difficult picking out shots as I didn't shoot any footage specifically as test shots to share, so most of my footage is rather long and at least several hundred megabytes.

However, I was able to find the below three shots, which I chose because they are relatively short, and also for their different environment and lighting conditions.

Test Shot #1 (Low light, 35.1 MB) - http://www.megaupload.com/?d=KPFV9G00 - Pan of Water Cube to Bird's Nest in Olympic Green

Test Shot #2 (Indoors, 114 MB) - http://www.megaupload.com/?d=DUEMEGZR - USA Men's Basketball vs. Argentina Semi-Final

Test Shot #3 (Outdoors, 56.5 MB) - http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ELT60WPV - Women's High Jump at the Bird's Nest

Take a look and let me know what you think!

I took the liberty of downloading your test number 3. I demuxed the 5.1 audio and brought it into Adobe Audition for those to see the 5.1 audio visually. The AC3 file was broken down into WAV files and as you can see in the screen shot, there are 6 distinctly different WAV files which would indicate that the 5.1 audio DOES work as advertised on these cams.

Thanks for that! Unfortunately, the link for the JPG you posted is broken. Can you check on it?

Like I said in the other thread, I was able to play my clips with the PS3 so I can hear the 5.1, and it sounds awesome! Really gives you that 360 degree feel, way more than just plain stereo. Cars passing by now really sounds like cars passing by!

Were you actually able to view the test shot as well?

Alright, I see that JPG link is working now. Cool image. I'm going to take a wild guess and say "Track 4" is the left surround channel. I can tell by the way it's more blown out than the other tracks from my "roar of approval" after she made her high jump. I'm getting the problem where my own voice is coming mostly out of the left surround speaker since that is how my mouth is positioned in the 5.1 audio space in relation to the camera. :D
