I found a couple of fans from some old gear at my work and I was thinking of using them to give my DVR (this thing gets pretty hot) and PS3 some more breathing room. If I play a movie/game I keep the door open but I have 2 year old that wants to close the door(just b/c its open).

I have 2 fans that I want to install on the back of the entertainment center cabinet (one up behind the DVR and the other down with the PS3) but I 'm not sure if I want them to both blow out or have one pull air in and one push air out.

Also is there a switch that I could wire up so I could turn these fans on and off? I was just going to plug them into a small power strip and power it on when I watched movies and played games.

I just wanted to see if anyone could help me out with this. Its a pain to move my entertainment center so I wanted to make sure I did this right the first time.

the fans I have (going to cut hole in the rear wood panel and mount them)

I have a cooling fan in the media cabinet of my media room. It's connected to the switched outlet on my receiver. That way, when the receiver comes on, the fan comes on.

One thing about line voltage fans-- most of them are quite loud. Mine blows into a hollow chamber in my bar that's vented to the toe kick, which functions as a muffler, but it's still audible in the room. And, when I open the doors to the equipment, it sounds like a small vacuum cleaner. I'll be replacing it with a quieter fan eventually.
