I have a budget of no more than 1600 dollars. What's the best 46-50" flat-planel for me? I don't really care if it's 720p or 1080p. I'm going crazy trying to figure out which HDTV to choose even after visiting BB and CC.

Btw, I'll be sitting 6-10.5 feet away from the HDTV. I'll be connecting a PS3 and a DirecTV HD box to it. I need all the help I can get folks. 100 percent clueless! =(

Go with the 46" Sharp D64 model, it's around $1300, or the 52" is around $1600, great TV's!!

Btw, how are the Samsung PN50A450 and PN50A550 models? Is there a big enough difference between the two picture wise that warrants the 400 dollar difference in prices?

Sharps are some of the worst LCD panels on the market. They have the poorest off axis viewing angles, black levels, and processing, of all of the tier 1 manufacturers.

The 450 is 720p, and the 550 is 1080pOther than the resolution difference, are they exactly the same HDTV's? I usually watch DVD's and game on the PS3 via 720p (most of the games are 720p) and I'll occasionally watch some Blu-Ray movies. Is 1080p for me?

Avoid the 450 if you are talking plasma, they have some of the worst IR levels of any plasma on the market, their 1080p models seem to be much better though.

Check out the new panny professional models. No need for a tuner since you've already got a cable box. Great pq and aesthetics IMHO.

Which Panasonic models were you looking at? You should be able to the get the 50PZ80U at a good price as it's somewhat comparable to the Sammy 550 plasma.
