Have had my 670 a while now, and love it. Unfortunately, a few weeks ago it starting draining brand new Duracells in about 4 or 5 days. I have the latest updates/firmware. Any ideas?

BillyBeatnik 09-03-08, 12:33 AM I would call support, they may have an idea. I would also try a different package of batteries to make sure you did not get a bad batch. joeandsarge 09-03-08, 08:23 AM tried the new batch of batteries but did not help. Waiting on reply from customer support, but wondered if anyone else ever had same problem. Thanks phipp01 09-04-08, 05:56 PM mine started shutting itself off for a few days and then went back to normal. Once in awhile it will use the batteries up rather quickly but I use rechargables so its not big deal. schellhase 09-23-08, 12:42 AM Have had my 670 a while now, and love it. Unfortunately, a few weeks ago it starting draining brand new Duracells in about 4 or 5 days. I have the latest updates/firmware. Any ideas? Two days ago my Harmony 676 remote started discharging batteries in 24 hours. I have been using rechargeable NiMN batteries and they usually go months on a charge. Also, at the same time the Glow feature quit working. Any ideas? protechie 01-19-09, 05:37 AM I have been having the same issue lately. I have had the 670 for 1 year and 3 months. For this first 11 months or so I might have changed the batteries twice, if that. Since then I have probably changed them 10 or more times. I called support and they were absolutely no help. By the time I called I was a week past warranty, so I was out of luck. I bought a new one and the same issue immediately continued. Anyone know what gives? xpat 01-19-09, 10:40 AM Once your remote starts eating batteries or the backlight fails, there is a defective hardware component in the remote. Though a safe mode firmware update may sometimes resolve the problem, there is usually nothing that can be done (unless you want to open the remote and figure out which piece of electronics is causing the problem ... I'm sure Harmony knows but they probably won't say -- problems often occur with the timing crystal, I'm not sure if this problem is related to battery consumption) and the remote needs to be replaced. Contact Harmony support, if you are out of warranty then you'll likely need to purchase a new remote. |
