DIGITAL PROJECTION INTERNATIONAL LAUNCHES THE TITAN RP97

Ultra-Bright Rear Screen Projection System offers Giant, High Performance Image and Installation Simplicity for Ambient Light Venues Throughout the Home

ATLANTA, GA (September 3, 2008) – Digital Projection International (DPI), an Emmy® Award-winning manufacturer of high-performance projection systems, is launching an alternative to oversized plasma screens at CEDIA 2008. The TITAN RP97, designed for use in media rooms, family rooms and other home venues with ambient light, portrays an extraordinary 97” image with the saturated colors, deep contrast and stellar dynamic range that have made DPI’s projectors the reference standard for Home Cinema use. With the TITAN RP97, the impeccable imaging of DP's legendary projection systems can now be deployed in any venue in the home.

The TITAN RP97 pairs DPI's powerful and efficient TITAN 1080p 500 projector with an optically precise, Black Bead Fresnel screen to assure cinema quality imagery, even in high ambient light environments. According to George Walter, Vice President of Home Cinema for DPI, “When used in rooms with very high ambient light, black levels are preserved and contrast ratios are exceptionally high. Unlike any other product, the size of the screen and the exquisite dynamics of the image enable the TITAN RP97 to deliver a cinema viewing experience in a non-theatrical environment.” Designed to integrate into new construction projects as well as retrofit into existing spaces, the RP97 can be installed in the equivalent space of a large coat closet, revealing only a dark matte 97” black screen that is flush with the wall. Assembly of the TITAN RP97 is straightforward and requires no wall mounting hardware. Installation is easily managed on site by two technicians.

While the RP97 is remarkable in its installation simplicity and stellar image quality, the product is also extraordinary in it’s low power consumption and operational efficiency. At the heart of the brilliant 97” image is DP’s award winning TITAN 500 series projector, a native 1080p, 3-chip DLP projection display that produces more lumens from less energy than any other projector in its class. At just 750 watts, the TITAN RP97 operates on less than 50% of the power consumed by similar sized plasma displays. The significantly lower power consumption results in a lower cost of ownership as well as reduced heat production, thus lowering the burden and cost of air conditioning to cool the venue. Equipped with DP’s exclusive twin-lamp system, the RP97 can operate up to 3000 hours, the equivalent of 4 hours a day for 2 full years, before the first low-cost lamp replacement is required.

DPI’s dedication to a respected and constantly evolving product range is demonstrated by the numerous recent product line innovations and investments made throughout the company. CEDIA 2008 in Denver, Colorado, provides a perfect opportunity to experience DPI’s innovation, as the brand-new TITAN RP97 will be launched along with other new home entertainment solutions. Experience DPI’s CEDIA exhibition at booth number 1036, September 4-7.

Aren't the 10K and 15K Lumens Sanyo's priced the same as this 5K 'best value' unit?Maybe there are some I missed, but from looking on projectorcentral.com the only Sanyo's I see that bright are 1024x768, where this is 1920x1080. The 1080p units from Sanyo I saw listed on projectorcentral.com are $36k for the 5500 lumen one and $42k for the 7000 lumen one. Did Sanyo announce some new 10K and 15K lumen models?

Meridian Launches 810 Reference Video System at CEDIA Expo
2008
CEDIA Expo, Denver, Colorado—September 4, 2008—For over ten years, leading UK-based luxury
home entertainment manufacturer Meridian Audio Ltd has been developing and manufacturing awardwinning
video products – from DVD players to projectors – that, together with the company’s advanced
digital audio components, create the Meridian Digital Theatre, offering the highest quality reproduction of
both image and sound.
Now, Meridian takes the next step towards perfecting the home viewing experience with the introduction of
the Meridian 810 Reference Video System. The 810 system comprises two primary elements: the 810
Reference Video Projector, an entirely new D-ILA-based digital projector offering a previously impossible 10
megapixels – exceeding the resolution even of commercial digital cinema projectors – and the 810
Reference Video Scaler, a special processor designed to optimize the imaging of HD and standard
resolution inputs for the vast new possibilities offered by a 10 megapixel projection environment. The result
is a system that, Meridian believes, represents the most realistic home theater performance in the world.
Using a brand new light engine, the Meridian 810 Reference Video Projector offers an effective resolution of
4096 x 2400 pixels, or 10 megapixels. In comparison, a conventional HDTV image at 1080i represents just
1 megapixel, while full-spec HD (1080p) is still only twice that. The Meridian 810 Reference Video Projector
also has extremely high light output capability. Powered by a PKI Xenon lamp, it is capable of delivering up
to 4000 lumens, enough to light even the very largest screens to the Hollywood reference level of 16 footlamberts.
In addition, the projector has a native contrast ratio of 10,000:1, ensuring that even in the most
difficult scenes, such as those combining bright light and shadow, detail is never lost. Trained staff at
Meridian’s state-of-the-art headquarters near Cambridge, UK, individually calibrate each projector in a
procedure that takes over four days to complete.
T
o display an image with a resolution of 10 megapixels requires some very special scaling. To meet this
requirement, Meridian has developed the 810 Reference Video Scaler. A brand new design, featuring
Marvell’s powerful, award-winning, Qdeo video processing technology, the scaler converts any digital
source (480i to 1080p) up to full 10 megapixel resolution. Its quiet and natural video processing produces
images that are free from noise and devoid of artifacts whether operating in 4:3, 16:9 or 2.35:1 modes.
The Meridian 810 Reference Video System will be available as a package consisting of both projector and
scaler, which will not be available separately. Four different packages will be available, featuring lens
systems with differing throw lengths. Short, Medium and Long-Throw packages will include a special
motorized 2.35:1 (Cinemascope®) lens assembly, while a Very Short Throw package, designed for backprojection
and simulator applications, will also be available. All four packages will be the same price:
US$185,000 (US retail).
The Meridian 810 Reference Video System is expected to begin shipping in limited quantities by the end of
Q3, 2008, with full availability before the end of the year.
Additional information and high-resolution photography will be available shortly from the Meridian Media
Centre: http://media.meridian-audio.com.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

JVC UNVEILS 10 MEGAPIXEL ULTRA HIGH DEFINITION PROJECTOR
4K2K D-ILA Projector Provides Four Times the Resolution of Full HD

Denver, CO (September 3, 2008) – JVC unveils the world's smallest 4K2K ultra high definition projector, the DLA-SH4K. Based on the company's new proprietary 1.27-inch 10 megapixel D-ILA devices, the DLA-SH4K projects images at greater than 4 times the resolution and clarity of the industry's latest full high definition projectors. The higher resolution will bring a new level of reality to aircraft simulators, medical analysis, 3D display, command and control, museums, theme parks, and ultra high-end home theaters.

The DLA-SH4K will be unveiled at CEDIA September 3 – 6, 2008 and will be on display throughout the show in the JVC Theater located at The Denver Center for the Performing Arts next to the Denver convention center.

The projector's chassis achieves a remarkable 65% reduction in size compared with conventional projectors in its class. This was achieved in part by using JVC's latest 1.27-inch Direct Drive Image Light Amplifier (D-ILA) devices and a new optical system. D-ILA is a proprietary form of Liquid Crystal on Silicone (LCOS), a reflective technology that offers far greater pixel density than competing devices.

The D-ILA devices used in the DLA-SH4K provide a native 4096 x 2400 resolution—multi-screen display modes that allow users to view up to four Full HD screens at a time. A new optical design featuring an 825 Watt Xenon lamp generates a light output of 3500 ANSI Lumens and features adjustable lamp power that ranges from 825 to 660 watts.

Two DLA-SH4Ks can be stacked for increased light output. In addition, the projector can be inclined up to a ± 90-degree tilt angle and has a horizontal lens shift of ±25% and vertical shift of ±50%, which enables flexible installation.

The DLA-SH4K includes DVI-D (dual-link) x 4 input terminals that accept a wide variety of input resolutions. In addition to the RS-232C and USB connections, an Ethernet interface makes adjustment and installation from web browsers on PCs possible. Furthermore, networking allows multiple projectors to be operated with a single PC and an email function also enables the sending out of error messages and lamp replacement reminders.

JVC will offer two lenses for the projector, the GL-MS4015SZG 1.22x zoom lens for screens up to 300 inches, and the GL-MS4011SG short throw lens for screens up to 250 inches. The DLA-SH4K is available immediately. For more information and photos on the DLA- SH4K D-ILA projector, please visit JVC's Web site at http://referenceseries.com.
