I will be in the market for a new camcorder very soon. I will be using it for making short "films"/vids primarily. Now I'm not going to go crazy and spend $10 grand but anything under $5000 will suffice, just want to know what's recommended. I like the idea of shooting in HD, well, because that is the future right? I prefer a cam that can produce images that is worthy of being submitted into film festivals and the likes. As I said, I'm a newb so any info, tips, suggestions are welcomed. I just want something good that will not require selling my soul :) thanks in advance guys.

Well, if I had $5000 to spend on a camcorder, and didn't already have one, I'd buy a Canon HV30 or other Vixia series camcorder to use now, and save the rest for a Scarlet in 2009. But that's just me.

there doesn't seem to be much info (final specs and what not) on the scarlet but to my understanding, don't you need to purchase a lot of accessories and lenses to make this camera complete? not too sure about, just going on what i read.
