I'm thinking about taking the step, and finally getting a LCD Flat panel TV.
I'd be using it for gaming mostly with my 360. I have a JVC flat tube currently and I love it to death, so I'm looking at JVC's and the JVC LT-42x579 caught my eye in price, look, and specs.

tv.jvc.com/product.jsp?modelId=MODL028346&pathId=138&page=10

So three things:
1) To anybody else that has this TV, what's been you're experience with it, good picture? Sound? Any info at all would be helpful.

2) Clouding, Pillars, etc, whats my risk with this thing. I know they all do it, but is the rate of it happening on a JVC higher or lower then most?

3) Besides Sony TVs (I have my reasons) are there any other LCDs anybody might recommend with the same specs and price and/or less risk of damage by clouding or pillars and stuff like that?

Thanx in Advanx. ;)

I just picked up the equivalent at Sam's Club (LT-42EM59) on Monday. The manual has both model #s on it, so it is the same TV as the 579 only a little cheaper. A little early to tell, but so far so good. I also have the LT-42x688, and that has been a fabulous TV for me for over a year. They sure look like the same TV - the only difference seems to be the new one has more HD inputs, and I think it has a higher contrast ratio. It also weighs a pound or two less than the 688, and the power indicator is in the lower left corner, instead of centered on the lower bezel.

Check out the 42x688 thread here, and you will find that most people are pretty satisfied with their JVC LCDs. When I bought the 688, I did a lot of comparison shopping (Sony, Samsung & Toshiba), and thought the picture quality was at least as good as the others, and the price was significantly better.

Does the LT-42EM59 have the GENESSA Picture Processing of some of the other JVC models.

Thanks

Neither their website or manual mention the Genessa Processor. They still mention it for their 120 Hz models. I would guess that their processors are equivalent to it. I love my 32 and 46 inch JVCs.
