Dear Friends,
Would you be so kind to advise me a nice DVD writer/VCR combo. The features I'm looking are:
1. It must be a combo (I still have VHS)
2. It should record all (or almost all) DVD formats, CD etc.
3. It should have an HDMI output with 1080p up-conversion
4. It should play DivX
5. It should have a digital tuner built in.
All your recommendations are greatly appreciated.
I was thinking on LG RC897T - it will perfectly match my LG plasma, however it doesn't have DivX support and not so well according to reviews
Thank you very much.

Welcome to the forum.
I don't believe that LG, or any combo deck for that matter, will record to CD.
There might be a Lite-On or something like that that's available from an importer or somewhere, but it's not going to have an ATSC/QAM tuner.
If you can do without the CD recording, there are some US models that can otherwise do those things. Panasonic would be one.
That's OK. I can use CD recorder for that

Then there's a few models available. You could just check websites like Circuit City, Best Buy, Walmart, etc., to get an idea of their features and specifications.
If someone's not looking to spend the absolute lowest amount of money possible, the Panasonics are usually the most recommended models here. They go on sale at those places and others a lot. You could check places like Amazon, too.
(Stay away from the "7" Panasonics, though, such as the EZ47. Go with the newer "8"'s, such as the EZ48.)
What do you think on JVC DR-MV100B?
Seems, it's the best according to the reviews on TestFreaks
Very little posted here on newer JVCs and I think the older ones didn't have the best reviews. If TestFreaks likes it I'd be inclined to try one, especially if I got it local at a place that was open to returns.
Not sure if you have a Ultimate Electronics hear you(mostly in midwest to west) but they sell both JVCs and Pannys so if you didn't like the JVC you could exchange it for a Panny.
If you get one please let us know how it works for you. Others are always looking for combo recorders and on those we mostly get Panny reviews, which have been for the most part positive.
If you plan on doing much VHS to DVD conversion the Panny has the nice feature of FR which allows you to fill up a disc with anything from 1hr-8hrs of material. I don't believe JVC has that useful feature. I think the only other DVDRs to have FR would be Pioneer which is no longer imported to the US and I'm not sure if they ever made a combo unit.
Quick questions about Panasonic DMR-EZ48VK:
1. Does it doing HDMI 1080p upconversion too?
2. Can it play DVDs in PAL (European) format?
