I'm trying to get an idea about the size of cx12. I have compared hf100 and sr11 side by side, but have never seen a cx12. SonyStyle website says that cx12 and sr11 are identical in size, which doesn't make sense. I was hoping that cx12 would be close to hf100 in size and weight. If it is really the same size as sr11, then that is a deal breaker for me. Could anyone shed some light on this please?

These pics may or may not help: Official CX12 Thread (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1052782)

I own a CX12 and can say for certain that it's smaller than the SR11/12 and about the same as the HF100/10. Not sure if the spec's on the various pages show this but they should.

ETA:

The CX12 is the same size as the CX7 and again, completely different than the SR11/12, the SR11/12 is wider to accommodate the hard drive and viewfinder, they're not the same which is good and not good for others....

Thanks for the reply. Other websites like B&H mention the same specs as sony web page. The misinformation is further propagated on camcorderinfo's review of cx12 - quoting from the comparison with sr11 section:

"The CX12 is the same physical size (no benefit there), but it is a little lighter. "

Wondering if the reviewer just recycled the sr11 review.

It'd help a lot if someone could post a picture of cx12 side by side with sr11/12 and/or hf10/100. That will nail it.

The CX12 and HF10 (basically an HF100 in terms of size) were next to each other in a Best Buy near where I live. They look almost identical and their dimensions are almost identical. I think one of the CX12 reviews put it next to an HF10 for comparison and they looked the same in that picture as well.

Thanks for the visual confirmation. Amazon dropped the price on cx12 to $762 today, looks very tempting at this price point.

I'm not trying to talk you out of the CX12, because I think it will be a great cam, but I just bought a Canon HF100, an extra 809 battery and two Transcend 16GB cards for $760.45.

Enjoy your new toy. There are some features that are important to me which aren't there in hf100. Then there are others where canon is superior hands down. Buy when the desired features intersect with acceptable price and then enjoy.
