FYI: Your Plasma TV might be sending "copy-protection-like" EMI/RF signals to your DVDR!?

Here's a post on a ham-radio operators site I ran across that says a plasma TV can emit electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio frequency (RF) signals at a level that disrupts other equipment, including ham radios. (http://www.eham.net/forums/RFI/2178?ehamsid=6b76f930e9b6a341e0480fcff1b8f997)

This guy and another got an LCD and no more problems.

Verrrrrrry interrrresting!

The EMI/RF info just gets better!

Here's another very short thread on the ham radio operators forum (http://www.eham.net/forums/RFI/2180?ehamsid=716569c534f5701af3b564c442811af1) that discusses EMI/RF from a neighbors ham-radio antenna disrupting this guy's TV/DVD AV/speaker system AND HIS TOUCH-SENSITIVE CHINA CABINET LIGHT!

The response from a seemingly knowledgeable poster included this "helpful" little tidbit, which applies to all our electronic equipment:

"You need to understand that your equipment is regulated under Title 47 CFR Part 15 of the FCC rules and carries the following statement:

This device complies with part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation."

So, the next time you hear strange sounds and flashing lights, before calling Ghost Busters or The Poltergeist Patrol, check out your neighbors first!?

Aha! Does the china cabinet light comply with FCC regulations? (Really, if I were making china cabinet lights, FCC regulations are probably the last thing I'd think of looking at! :p)

I dunno, the Federal China Cabinet agency might have something to say about that! :D

Plasmas do spew RF, but it's not for copy protection.

This is also a very well known problem with them.
