Hey guys I have a hopefully quick and easy question.
I set my PS3 to output 720P through HDMI and it fills my whole screen on the VW-40, but how does it fill the screen? Does the projector scale it up to fill the whole panel when it comes in?

The reason I ask is I bought a VGA to HDMI converter for my computer because I didn't want to have to run a VGA cable through the ceiling.
I set my computer to output 720P through VGA and after going through the converter it only fills a 1280x720 size box in the middle of my screen?

Why does this not display fullsize on the screen like the PS3? Do I need to download some software that outputs 720P just like the PS3 or should 1280X720P at 60hz be exactly the same coming out of my computer.

Here is the box I bought. It only goes to a max res of 1600x1200 that is ehy I am only sending 720P through it.

I would appreciate any help on why this is not filling the entire screen. I looked at the VW-40 manual and didn't see much about this type of stuff.

Thanks a bunch,

I would contact Monoprice or buy a good video card that will do 1080p.

Make sure that the projector is set to 16:9 and not bative mode. It should upscale any 720p image. What kind of vga to hdmi converter did you buy? VGA is analog and HDMI is digital so they should not be compatible.

The easiest fix is to buy a cheap hdmi video card that can output 1080p from newegg.com like this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131119) (monoprice doesn't sell video cards).

Hey guys,
Thanks for the replies.
There is a link in the first post about the converter I bought from monoprice. It is going back. It does an OK job but maxxes out resolution at 1600x1200 and I couldn't get any sound thru the HDMI cable to my Onkyo 805.

I would like to just buy an HDMI video card but this is a laptop so I don't think that is possible. It is a mid range Dell.

I ended up just biting the bullet and running a 25' VGA cable through my ceiling in addition to the HDMI cable. I already a a pull line in there so it wasn't too big a pain. I guess I should have just done that from the beggining. Now I can do my CAD/CAM work and watch Netflix downloads on the projector. The Netflix download are pretty soft and the sound is only 2 channel but it is nice to have for documentaries or movies for the kids on a spur of the moment basis.

If you guys have any specific questions on that converter or something you want me to try on it before I send it back let me know and I will try to accomodate you.

Thanks again,
Kevin C.

i noticed my vw-40 set on 1080i on my ps3 will severely limit the contrast, doesnt really make sense, i only had noticed it after i had set up my ps3 on an older projector, i resaved the settings and everything seemed to be set up the same way but it still looked washed out, oh well luckily it looks awesome on 1080p, cable 1080i looks good too so i have no clue
