Please help! So frustrated! I have an Optoma HD65 Projector, a Samsung DV1080 upconverting DVD player, a Scientific Atlanta (Rogers) HD8300 HDPVR and a Samsung HT-AS720ST Receiver, all with Rocketfish HDMI cables. The issues are these: When I hook HDMI from DVD to Receiver, and HDMI from PVR to Receiver, and then HDMI from Receiver to Projector, and select HDMI source (either SAT or DVD) on the Receiver, I get no sound. I hooked up audio with Rocketfish optical cables. This solves the problem. But then periodically (i.e. when switching between SAT and DVD) the Projector says "searching for source" and then "source not found". Sometimes it will find the source (HDMI), show video, and then crash and say "Searching for source" again. It will do this constantly until I get frustrated and power off.

When I hook up component cables from DVD to Projector there's no issues. Is there an issue with my HDMI on the Receiver, on the Projector or with the cables themselves? How do I know which it is? Am I just setting this up incorrectly?

One option is to go HDMI between DVD and Projector, optical from DVD to Receiver, HDMI from PVR to Receiver? So confused.

That sounds like a problem with the samsung receiver. Try going from the cable box or dvd player via hdmi directly to the pj. If that solves the issue you know its the receiver. There may be some kind of setup menu to recieve audio via hdmi. Time to trouble shoot...

Yes that's the receiver having the issue, I had one took it back 3 times. I now own a Denon avr-888 no issues with anything I've hooked to it so far, dvd, HD cable box, PS3, Xbox 360 and HTPC all work perfect with my Denon to my HD65.
