Not sure if this is the right forum area, but here's what's up:

Over the years of downloading various video codecs as they come out, my video settings on my computer have become way out of whack. All my videos are extremely dark and off-color. My NVidia Control Panel doesn't even work when I try to adjust video settings from it. I have so many codecs and players at this point, they're settings are probably stepping all over each other, plus I can't even remember how many or which ones I have.

Does anybody know of a quick easy way to reset everything, or of some kind of master program so I can get my video settings working properly again?

Try windows media player set in high quality mode instead of overlay and check if changing the desktop color or video color sliders in the nv control panel affect it (in hq mode both should affect it), if they do that's a good start. You probably should also check the windows media player image controls, they work independently from the driver ones, i think the menu is view > enhancements or something like that.

I had trouble with nv drivers once, WMP was set to overlay mode and not even video color settings would do a thing, I simply reinstalled the latest official drivers, in general I find that most nv beta drivers screw video related stuff.

This is just what I'd do to try and find out the source of the problem, maybe someone can point you to a program that can help you more.

If what I suggest above doesn't work you can always uninstall the nv drivers, reboot into safe mode and run driver cleaner (guru3d.com), then reinstall the latest official drivers for your card.

Good luck.

PS. You should consider clean reinstalling your whole windows man (from repartition up), you can get away with 2-3 years old windows installations if you are very very selective on what you install/run (I am), otherwise a fresh start will help you more than anything.
