I just recently had my 42 in Panasonic plasma stolen from my home. I had it mounted to the wall using a low-profile Monoprice mount. I didn't think it would be as easy to steal as it apparently was.
Now I want to replace it with probably a 50 inch model. The wall bracket is still firmly attached. If I buy another Monoprice mount then I will want to modify it to make it more theft resistant. Can someone who has one of these mounts give me any ideas on how it might be modified to incorporate a padlock or other inconspicuous (if possible) anti-theft device?
Another option I have found is by solidmounts for $100. They have a low profile mount with security lock bars. It would be nice if I could use the existing Monoprice wall bracket and incorporate some sort of anti-theft add-on or modification. Thanks.

I'm sure if your creative, you can find a way to lock up just about any mount out there one way or another. You just have to make it so that they can't just lift it up and off easliy. Anything to slow him/them down. If it's to much of a hassle they will go on to something else and leave it. Of course your better off if they don't get into the house to begin with, and #1 thing to do is have a good Alarm system and use it! Hell just a sign out front will deter some people to go someplace else. Talking about your Nice HDTV with friends out at a bar where others can hear about it wouldn't be good either for example. Your advertising ROB ME!!! A Thief shouldn't have much of a chance to get into your place and no time to take much with a Alarm going off.
A plus is the larger and heaver the HDTV, the less likely it's going to be taken unless it's a group of thief's are in your place. That's a excuse to get a larger HDTV, but still a Good and working Alarm is the #1 thing to have and second a Safe that's Bolted down.

If they want it, they will get it. Criminals will find a way.
I say a pit bull, rott, or big ass dog will do the job:D

Dogs are totally unreliable. Come prepared with a steak to toss to the Dog and your good. Ever watch the Discovery show 'It takes a Thief', having a dog never seems to slow them down.
Peerless has mounts with security screws. The screws are allen heads with a little knob in the middle of the hole. They also come with the elongated tool to reach all of the screws. If you don't have that tool, it makes it very difficult to get it off the wall.

To elaborate a little:
I left myself too vulnerable. I have been remodeling a bathroom and gutted the room and took out a window and left just plastic up over it. The window sill is about 8 feet off the ground. The tape holding the plastic was coming loose so I put a ladder up to it and re-taped it but then left the ladder standing there. So the thieves only had to break through some plastic by way of the ladder I left for them. Pretty stupid on my part. I live in a neighborhood where I should know better but I have not had any problems in many years.
I have an alarm. The alarm went off and two neighbors actually saw the thieves carrying the "large black thing" to their car but it happened too fast for them to do anything or get the license plate number. They took the plasma and a laptop, both back out the window they came in.
The Monoprice mount has safety clips that prevent the plasma from being lifted but they are held by screws that hold by friction. You only have to loosen the screws to slide the clips and I suspect that with enough force they slid without loosening the screws. I somehow had the thought that the weight and unwieldiness of the plasma along with the difficulty of getting at the clips with a screwdriver would make the plasma an unlikely target. In hindsight, for two determined thieves, the plasma was an easy goldmine.
Keeping the thieves out of the house is definitely the first priority. Putting a padlock or otherwise making the plasma difficult to remove to frustrate thieves that make it in seems wise also.
