Hi all,
Need advice on which brand of 1080p plasma to buy in the 58" to 60" screen size. Watching distance will be 18 feet. i mostly watch SD content via satellite Directv, over the air HD programming and aslo DVD movies. Will buy a blu ray player once i get the TV. The most i would like to spend is $3500. Please let me know which TV is the best bang for the buck.
Also have a question regarding watching DVD's which show black bars on top and bottom: If you watch this kind of movie on a new plasma will it have any adverse effect on the TV ??

Without question the 58PZ800 meets your budget, seating position, and source material. Also the LG 60PG60 comes to mind. However, my choice would be the 58PZ800.

I agree with the two choices Chris suggested.

Can you provide any additional criteria. Both these displays use the single bezel covering pane of optical glass so look quite nice in the room in addition to having great PQ.

You might also consider looking at the 58PZ850 it adds a significant number of picture adjustments that are present on the PG60 but not on the 800u, however, you lose the the THX.

If the additional settings don't matter to you, you could probably end up saving a couple for hundred on the 800u vs the PG60.

You might want to take a read in each of the respective owner's threads, however, I suggest you post comparative questions here rather than there. Folks tend to get protective of their decisions and you could unintentionally create some drama.
