I have searched the archives, but haven't had any luck with this. Can anyone tell me if this picture would be considered normal wear for a 2 year-old plasma?

The photo is of a completely white screen (The fade out to commercial from a HD Net showing of Arrested Development).

The sides of the picture are clearly whiter than the middle portion, likely a result of watching standard 4:3 programs.

I am surprised this has happened on such a high-end Pioneer, and as I have the "big-honkin-warranty", I thought I would see if this would be covered.

Thanks.

Thanks. If that is actual burn-in, it will not be covered by the Pioneer warranty. If you don't watch a lot of 4:3 content, that could very well be temporary image retention.

Watch a few hours of something that fills your screen, and then take another look at a blank white screen and see if you can still see a difference.

I have a PRO-1540HD (the 60" version of your TV), and in my limited experience and not so humble opinion, that generation of Pioneer panels is absolutely horrible as far as burn-in goes.

Pioneer plasmas cannot suffer from burn-in so this picture must be a fake or it is just a case of temporary IR so it should go away in a couple of minutes of normal use.

I have the Pro930 Elite Plasma which is also a couple of years old. I'm experiencing the same image issue as you, however, after first noticing it a couple of weeks ago it seems to be slowing going away. I do not watch 4:3 programming so I racked my brains to hypothesize how this happened. What I did notice was the same type of image as you but also my cable providers logo (Rogers) at top left (whithin the 4:3 area). I mostly watch HD (80%) or 4:3 in strech mode(20%), however, with the SA8300HD STB when you press the TV guide info button the image is true 4:3 with the our cable logo on top left. I thought, what am I doing, am I actually viewing the TV guide to long or what. Now as a precautionary measure I have dialed in lighter colors bars (less light output) in the Scientific Altanta box TV guide set up etc and I spend less time flipping through the guide. Another forum told me I've experienced a severe form of IR but not burn-in and it should go away. I sure hope so as I paid a lot dough for this 6G pioneer elite.

I can assure you this is not a fake. I also have noticed this in the opening sequence of "Fargo", which is a whiteout scene. I am afraid that this is not a temporary problem, as I have checked it over and over, with the same result, regardless of whether I have been watching Widescreen HD, 4:3, or any other format.

The problem is only visible during bright white scenes.

I guess I will be calling a tech to take a look.

MisterC71: Could you keep me informed here or PM me as to what your tech identifies as the root problem. I consider your concern a very valid one. I posted my issue/concern about my problem in the master burn-in thread and I got no response as all the posts were mainly about break-in DVD discussion for new displays. I sure hope this thread doesn't get locked because it isn't in the master burn-in thread. Give us some time to sort things out.

Thanks

I have the same model and just recently have noticed that the DirecTV logo from the guide and the small window that plays the show while in the guide is showing. From reading a few posts it sounds like IR, but what is a good way to tell and how can it be fixed.
