Every time I update my MX-810 software, it suddenly can no longer see my MX-810 remote device.
I have verified this by using a clean, non-updated install of the software. It was able to communicate with the remote device without any problem.
I then updated the software and attempted to communicate with the remote again. Now it can't see the remote. But my windows device manager clearly see's the remote.
So I uninstalled the software and installed a clean, non-upated copy. That one can see the remote no problem.
After updating the software, I was again unable to get the software to see the remote. Any ideas?
I have software version 10.50.0.125. I'm just doing the auto update from there.

have you tried to exit out of the remote manager in the system try and see if it will allow communications resume? Which os are you running? IMO the wizard software has been a big bust:mad:

I'm not sure what you are suggesting?
I'm running Vista Ultimate. Communications works fine, until I upgrade the software. I run the application in Windows XP compatibility mode, with administrators rights. If someone can tell me how to get my XP virtual machine (vmware) to "connect" to the USB devices, then I can try the software in XP.

I had the MX-850 and I really, really wish I could use it's software for the MX-810. Because you are correct, the MX-810 software is horrible, regardless of my current issue.
Two things that might help.
1. After the latest ProWiard update I too noticed that the software no longer showed "mx-810 connected" when I connect my remote to my computer. However, it still sends my remote files to my remote regardless of the fact that it no longer shows that particular "connected" graphic.
2. I've had issues sending remote files to my mx-810 when it's connected to a usb hub. Make sure your remote is connected to a hardwired usb port.
I hope this helps...

In the system tray do you see the URC remote manger icon, if yes right click and exit it while the wizard is open. Also is your OS 64bit?
Has anyone found a solution for this? I'm also running Vista. Previously, I had no problems with the software doing updates. I haven't changed anything in months, but today needed to make a few tweaks. I launched the Wizard software in administrator mode, it detected an update and did so. The remote is detected by the computer when I plug it in, but I no longer show the URC remote manager in the tray and the program is unable to transmit my updates to the remote.
The solution is in this (http://www.remotecentral.com/cgi-bin/mboard/complete/thread.cgi?2165,1#3) thread at remotecentral.com. Not very elegant, but it works.
