I'm going to be turning the 'bonus room' above our garage into my home theater area. I've already own the main things I want/need.

Here's what it looks like now.

The TV is currently against the top wall in the picture. My bed is on the left and my desk is on the right.

Here's what I'm going for. The room is about 20'x10'

I'll be ordering a 25ft cat 5, 100 ft 12awg speaker wire, 12 banana plugs, and a 25ft dvi cord tonight.

Everything will be finished by next weekend. I'll post pics when I'm finished.

My question similar to that of Westgate's.

Sounds like a nice sized room for HT so curious about which type of screen (pull down or motorized or fixed and white or gray/contrast enhancing) and which projectors are you considering for the switch from Television to Home Theater? There are so many wonderful types to choose from!!

With you sized room (our throw distance is only 11 1/2 ft so our image is just under 120inch diagonal) you have all the really big screen options open to you which we did not.

Remember - non-reflective ceiling and wall treatment works best and darker colors are helpful.
goodluck!!

I said budget so for now I'm sticking with the TV and just ordering the cables I need. The room is perfect for a projector though, but there's a ceiling fan that would block the picture from a projector that I'd need to take down.

My surround speakers and center channel are cheap yamaha speakers that I'm going to upgrade soon. The projector is something I would love to have, but only after I buy the rest of my speakers.

I also posted the same pic twice, updated it.

you can always go shelf mounted and leave the fan where it is.

From the left, 15' over the ceiling actually drops down about 1'. I don't know anything about how far back a projector should be, etc, but it would make a good spot to place a projector.
