Both these plasmas are priced at about the same. I have purchased the lg pg25, but now I'm starting to become paranoid. I keep hearing about the below average black levels and inaccurate colors. I'm still within the 30 day return policy so I can return the pg25. Is the 450 any better than the pg25?

I know the panasonic is just a bit more and is most likely better than both of these sets, but I cant spend more.

It is true what you are saying, that LG does not make as good of a product as Samsung. However you may personally like the LG better and that is all that matters. You can always try out the Samsung and let us know, the bottom line is that you paid for the 30 day return policy so use it if you like.

The only reason why I like the LG is the design, but accurate colours and deeper blacks are more of a priority and thats why I'm thinking the Samsung is probably th better pick.

However, lately I've been hearing about pinkish hues on the Samsungs and it almost seems like it's on every set. I did not purchase a warranty and probably wont so I rather have slightly lighter blacks and colours that aren't completely accurate than a set that is repair plagued and will eventually cost more than a panasonic after a bunch of repairs.

Is the pink hue problem with the samsungs that extreme? The PN50A450

I've owned a PNA650, a PZ85U, a PG60 and now a PG25.

The PZ85 definately had the best blacks, but there was a red push.
The PG60 had very accurate colors, but the black levels were average.
The A650, out of the box, had average colors and average black levels. Using the extensive user menu controls, the colors can be made to be very accurate. The pink/green hue/bands killed the experience.
The PG25, IMO, is more like the PG60 minus THX than the PG20. The black levels are average but colors look pretty accurate to me.

If you are not satisfied, then you should exchange the set. I've done 5 times already and wish I had kept my second PG60 instead of going with the A650. In the end, I realized I'd never be satisfied and went for a much cheaper ($$$) TV. So far, I love it.

If you want color accuracy, then read this thread. Apprarently you will not be getting it with the A450:

I've never found reviews or anything about the pg25, but the futureshop salesmen just told me that the only difference between it and the pg20 was the glass design, extra hdmi port, usb input and "newer phosphors".

I guess that the hues would probably annoy me to the point that I would return the samsung, so I guess ill stick with the pg25. Thanks for everyone's help.

Now all I need to do is find more info on the pg25 lol

Thanks so much for the links

hdtvtest.co.uk/LG-42PG6000/ provided a lot of good info, I just wish they could have posted the settings they had after calibration.

I'm still trying to find someone who has calibrated this set using its isf menu and color management system

I bought an LG PG25 and like the design too but the inaccurate colors and lack of deeper black from reading reviews is starting to puzzle me. I applied Joepro's picture setting and the colors seem quite accurate to me, for the black levels I am not sure since I don't have any basis of comparison. I know my Futureshop still have some Pioneer 5080HD in stock and was wondering if the difference in price, roughly $ 600 would be too much for a TV with better black levels and colors in comparison to the LGPG25.

There are some places where the Panasonic is the same price. I don't know much about LG so I can't comment on it, but the Samsung has some posterization issues that you should read about.

I have the 42pg25 and the specs should be similar on the 50, overall I’ve found the color balance excellent, black levels more than adequate without getting anal , and chose it over the Panasonics and Samsung because of the consistent results I got from the LG over the other two.
Would have gone for the Pioneer Kuro if there was a current 42” available but overall I’m very satisfied with the PG25.
Problem is the number of Panasonic and Samsung users out-way the LG users, I believe they are all fairly good and there will always be issues regardless of manufacture. You may also want to check reviews on the PG6000 which is the European equivalent of the PG25 series.
