I have two areas in my basement that have some duct running across the room. I have alot of pipes and wires that I would like access too and prefer not to soffit them with drywall. Since I want to go drop ceiling is there a way to soffit those areas with drop ceiling tiles or something else? I thought about using some velcro with adhesive to the tiles and attach them to the rails. So they can hang on their sides but still be removable. If anyone can steer me in the right direction or have any other ideas that i can do as well.

Thanks again!

Counter-Point:

Other than clean-out and shutoff valves there really isn't any reason not to drywall the ceiling. If you live in a 2 story house you can just imagine the amount of plumbing and electrical that has been buried behind drywall and/or plaster. We've been building houses that way for decades.

If you have a special area that you need to access incorporate an access panel.
