Turning my scientific explorer 4200 gives me the station name and then blank screen, which is fixed by switching channels or turning settings on/off or turning box off/on. If I turn box on 5 times, 3 times I will get a channel and 2 times I will get a blank screen. Rebooting box fixes it, but a day or 2 later the problem starts again. This also has happened to my 4250hd box a week after the 4200 box issue. It seems rebooting fixes problem for a while. Both boxes are connected on my 3rd split. The dvr box on 2nd split is fine.

I was using a radioshack bi-directional amplifier for the last 2 weeks and everything seemed fine. this just started happening so I disconected ampifier rebooted and problem on my 4200 box is still happening with NO AMPLIFIER being used at all, so It cant be the the radioshack amp causing problem. WHAT COULD THIS BE. A service man is comming end of week, so I hope problem can be fixed. Db settings on 3rd split are -5 on non hd and -10 on hd channels and turning orange sometimes. 2nd split signals are fine. This is issue when I want to use timer on box and tape show on vcr.
