I have a Panasonic PV-GS120 which I have not used for about a year, now when I try and download video to my computer I get an error message saying "USB device not reccognised" I have tried connecting it to other laptops and have had the same response, I have reloaded the drivers to no avail, any help would be appreciated!

You need to use FireWire to transfer full quality video with the PV-GS120.

I am using several different firewire cables, same error message.

If you are using IEEE1394 which is Firewire then you should not be getting any USB errors. They are not related. Make sure you put your GS200 in the Tape Playback Mode NOT in the PC mode.
Try using WinDV or DVIO to transfer your video. They are both free. WinDV can be downloaded at: http://windv.mourek.cz/ or another utility that works is DVIO: http://www.carr-engineering.com/dvio.htm

When I first got this camcorder it connected to the computer with a cable that had a DV connector at each end, but my new computer doesn't have a DV connection only USB. I've reloaded the drivers but the computer does not see this device! weird.

but my new computer doesn't have a DV connection only USB. Then install a Firewire card in your computer. They are inexpensive.
