I was all set and ready to purchase the Samsung LN40a550 before I ran across the Panasonic TH-42PZ80U for nearly the same price.

I don't know which to get now. The Panny doesn't have too many reviews and I don't know if a plasma is the right choice for me (I play a lot of video games).

I know the plasma burn-in has been virtually solved, but it still worries me.

Which tv do you guys think I should get?

lolz I'll post again;)

If you have a bright room, then go with the Sammy. But if you have a dark room, go with the Panny.

(note: check Big River for the Panny, just in case it happens to be cheaper;))

i'd disagree. I have the 50" version of the panny with windows shining directly on it and glare is not too bad. Personally, i'd take a little reflection and glare any day over a washed out picture. You'll appreciate it much better when there is no light. Colors and contrast are much much better on the panny. They have one side by side at the sears here locally and it's no contest. However... the 650 is a whole different animal. =)

I guess the glare on a tv varies from person to person;)

But just to be sure, I would go to BB or CC and shine a spotlight directly on them ^_^

at the best buy we have here they have all the 40" class tv's sitting side by side and what i've always noticed is that during the daytime when it's very bright, the only picture you can see are the panasonic plasmas. Everything else gets washed out by the light. But eh... you should go the the store and judge for yourself. =) good luck! you'll be happy with either set.
