thanks for putting up with me so far . ill be able to buy a upconverting DVD player next week and ive narrowed it down to a few that im most interested in.........but im still oppen to suggestions..........in my price range .

ive got a Pioneer 7.1 reciever with a 5.1 speaker systen hooked up to it . ive got a Fios HD-DVR for one source and its going (via HDMI) to a panasonic TH50PX80U 50 inch 720P plasma for video and using a optical cable for audio to the pioneer .

honestly , i cant afford to get blueray right now and if i could id get a PS3 . both of the pioneers can be had for a C note or less and what ever the latest and greatest economy model philips is will wind up only being 60-70 bucks tops at local B&M stores and even less online . i know i can get a referbed oppo for about $150 shipped but i really dont want to invest that much .

i absolutely LOVE the idea of having a peice of ELITE gear on my component shelf !! but ive been told on here that tha 48's appeal is more for its audio capability than its video capability , implying that apparently video wise the 410 is a better machine . is this true ?????

the philips players seem to get good comments , but always with the mention of build quality compared to the bigger boys , but the big boys cost more too . between the 410 and philips latest and greatest economy model what is probally better as far as pic quality goes ?

im not strongly opposed to buying a HD-DVD player from eek-bay but im not exactly thrilled about it either . i still (after 10 years as a heavy computer/internet user) have reservations about using them and putting personal fincial info online . its probally silly of me at this point but like they say , old habits.............. .

The Elite DV-48AV will give you an extra year's warranty and its build quality is definitely better than the DV-410. If you're into multi-channel music at all, then its definitely the Elite. I can't think of anything the DV-410/K will give you over the DV-48AV except maybe the USD is v2.0 vs. v1.1 for the DV-48AV. I have an older Philips DVP-5960 and I like the PQ on the DV-48AV better, but then again, the 5960 only upscales to 1080i whereas the newer Philips players (5990, 5992) upscale to 1080P, but as you have a 720p display, it probably is not that important to you.
