I am looking for a little help setting up my new 890. I have a SA Explorer 8300hd feeding native resolution to my Onkyo 875 to allow the Reon to do all upconversion to my Optoma HD70. All my connections are HDMI to my 875, and I have one HDMI cable feeding the HD70, so I have the source lock set on my projector so hat it doesn't lose the signal from the receiver (using the 875 causes a slight delay in the video feed, so that if source lock is off, the projector will cycle through the different inputs looking for a signal). I have a few problems with my set up. First off, when I change to channels that have different resolutions, the 890 occasionally sends the "Input: HDMI" command to the projector, causing the source lock to shut off, and the projector to begin cycling through inputs, losing the signal until I dig out the HD70 remote and tell the projector of go back to HDMI. Is there a step in the Logitech programming so I can delete this command? Also, the command going to the Explorer 8300 of "Source: Cable In" causes it to lose my setting of sending out native resolution. Can I delete this command too? I have been playing with the Logitech software and I can't figure it out. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

Does your setup behave the same way using the regular remotes? Did you have the native resolutions and source locks set up prior to the 890?

I had been using the remote from my Onkyo to control everything, and had no problems with the resolution changing or source locks before hand. That is why I think the problem might be coming from these seemingly extra commands coming from the 890.

I'm with BRyansj, it sounds to me like one of your number commands is too similar to the Input: HDMI command for your projector.

Grab the original cable box remote and start changing channels with it and see if the same thing happens, I'm betting it will.

There is no reason the Harmony remote should be sending out the Input:HDMI command if you aren't changing activities.

How are you controlling the projector, are you using the IR from the remote or base station, or do you have an emmitter run up to the projector? If you are using an emitter make sure you assign the projector to whatever plug you are using so it doesn't see commands that aren't meant for it.

I am controlling the projector with IR from the remote, so no emitter.
I tried changing the channels with the original remote, and I didn't lost the source lock on the projector or the native feed from the cable box.
Is there no way to delete that command?

The Harmony remote shouldn't be sending that command if all you are doing is changing channels.

Are you using any other inputs on your projector? If not then you may be able to go into that device and delete out all of the other inputs so the Harmony doesn't ever try to change inputs.

My hunch is that when you change channels from SD content to HD content there is a delay in the handshaking between your cable box, avr, and projector causing the projector to lose the source lock. There should be no reason for the projector to receive a command from the 890 while simply hitting channel up/down.

If your other devices are connected via the RF extender then you could physically cover the remote's IR output while changing channels to see if the problem repeats. Also, make sure that your RF extender connected devices are assigned to a specific port.

That could be it too. Try setting your cable box to upscale everything to 1080i and see if it still happens.

You guys are right. I can't get the projector to lose source lock unless I am switching activities (not switching channels, as I had originally thought- but switching some channels does cause me to lose native resolution on the SA Explorer), but that is still a problem. When I choose a different activity, the remote sends the HDMI input command to the projector, losing my source lock, causing me to lose video. So, is there a way to defeat this command, so when I change activities I don't lose video? Thanks for all your help so far!

Thanks again for your help.
To answer your questions, the only input on the projector that I am using is HDMI. ANd I am not currently using the rf extender.
I'll change the cable box to output 1080i and see if the problem persists.

If you have figured out that it isn't happenign when changing channels I would just go ahead and leave the cable box set on native. Your receiver's upscaling is probably better than what is in the box.

Did you try going into the projector device and deleting all of the other inputs except HDMI? I have heard that doing this will allow you to keep the remote from sending out the input commands, but i have never tried it.

That sounds like a good idea, but I can't figure out how to delete the other inputs. Any advice? Thanks again.

I think (not entirely sure) that in the device setup mode you can delete inputs. If you can't do it with the software, I guarantee that a call to the help line will solve your problem - there are some things tech support can do on their end that we either can't or would find cumbersome.

Thanks. I am going away for the weekend, but I will give them a call on Sunday night and see if I can get it straightened out.
