Does anyone know a Sharp XR-10X lamp (AN-10XRLP) will work in a DT-500 (AN-100LP)?? The lamp modules themselves seem to be identical, in wattage, size, type, module, etc. They both seem to be 275 watt SHP DC lamps. The only diffrence I could find between the 2 was the outer coating on the reflector portion. On the AN-100LP it was glossy mirror finish, on the AN-XR10LP it was more of a translucent irredecent finish. What would have been the reasoning for this? HEat issues? Light spill? I did notice it seems less light comes from the DT-500 than the XR-10X. Can anyone who just purchased a new XR-10X lamp tell me what their lamp looked like, i.e. if it was shiney or not? Can you post a pic? I have posted pics of both lamps here, the AN-100LP is the one on the left, the AN-10XRLP is on the right.

I'd love to keep my 10x lamp as a spare, and not only that but the 10x lamps are cheaper than the other one. Can anyone see any issues in using the 10x lamp?

Thanks,

Jeff

Have you tried the 10X in the DT yet? They look like the same bulb.

Haven't tried it yet, but yea they do look very very similar, only diffrence I can find is the an-100lp has the shiny outer coating as well, where as the 10x has a more irredescent outer finish.

I'm not sure - they do look the same though.

Camaro, are you waiting for someone to test this out for you? You're the one with the bulbs, you know? ;) So, have it tried it yet?

Anyone Try this yet? My DT-500 Lamp just went on me and I wouldn't mind saving $100

since i have a a 2.5 year old 10x and couple working lamps i have been considering upgrading to the DT but really want to know the answer on this.

one caveat i experienced in the past is a lamp can have exact diminsions and power consumptions but a narrow or wide beam angle.

civilsavage - you may have to be the first to try...If the power draw is the same should it really cause a problem? I mean, worst case is it shouldn't work or it won't look right.

The only remote thing I can think of is the beam being diffrent, or perhaps a heat or light spill issue...being as the 10x lamp has an irredescent outer coating and the dt lamps have a shiny outer coating. Voltage and wattage are identical. If I had had the dt-500 longer I prob would have been more willing to try, but being as I had just gotton it, and could still sell my 10x and get enough out of it to get an an100lp lamp I chose the safe (call it the wimp) route.

If someone tries this though I'd like to know too, as the next lamp I get if I still have the dt will be a 10x since they are much cheaper.

Speaking of lamps I just got my an100lp finally today from electrified.
