View Full Version : Anyone have a Pronto TSU9200?
sjujohn 09-09-08, 09:33 AM I am having a really hard time with this and can't find much info on it. I have even been posting over at remotecentral.com. If anyone can be of help or if anyone knows someone that owns one I would really appreciate thier time
EHUPP01 09-09-08, 11:12 AM I was looking into this remote also but cant find anyone that has one.
Anthony 09-12-08, 07:04 PM I have one for testing.
Can't say I like it as of yet, but I'm not convinced I didn't get a lemon. It rattles (probably the tilt sensor), reboots, and locks up quite often.
I upgraded the firmware, but still nothing. I know this is bleeding edge on the release; but if they can't get this fixed, I won't be able to recommend it. Which is sad, because it would have been perfect for my business (cheap, user and pro programmable, better than what comes with the components).
If anyone finds this thread and does have one and knows a fix (or why) for the reboots and lockups, please let me know.
Ontario 09-14-08, 12:35 AM I just stumbled across a very thorough user review for the Pronto 9200 at a Canadian A/V forum.
As I am still to new to post a URL, the website is digitalhome.ca/forum/ In the "Home Theatre Equipment" category, you will find the "Remote Control" forum. The thread for the 9200 review is about a dozen posts down on the first page.
Sorry if the instructions seem a little complicated, but without the ability to post a direct link, this is the best I could do.
I hope this is helpful to those seeking information about this remote.
speed4566 09-17-08, 10:49 PM I have a TSU-9200 as well that was purchased for testing and have had all the same problems.
Even after firmware as well.
Can't return it now so maybe I'll just throw it at somebody when I'm stuck in traffic.
Anthony 09-18-08, 08:40 AM Sorry, I posted this on another forum, but I did find a workaround to this:
the default timeout setting is 5s for LCD and 10s for backlight. The reboots and lockups usually occurred between the LCD turning off and the backlight.
I set both to 10 seconds and so far I've had one reboot in three days now (and zero lockups).
A bug, I know, but at least I found a workaround.
Since I got that fixed, I'm liking this thing more and more. I like that you can assign multiple macros to every button at any time. For instance, play turns off the lights, pause brings them up, and stop turns them full on (in addition to the normal DVD command).
The software is still a bit kludgey to use, but I'm getting the hang of it.
Anthrassat1.8t 12-08-08, 08:50 AM Hey gang. I'm a pronto fan (still have a tsu3000 that works flawlessly) and am interested in this for my living room setup. Very mild compared to my theater but I've always been a fan of their remotes. I'm a bit concerned as to all these issues. I was considering one of the Logitech's and may still go that route. I really want something that is expandable to RF and not as clunky as a full touchscreen. Anything changed in the last couple months since this last post with regard to the lockup/reboot issue? Thanks all.
Anthony 12-11-08, 02:12 PM Despite all I said up there, I actually like this remote.
I got the RF extender and set up several macros and it really makes life easier in the theater. My wife even caved and siad it was much better than the Marantz RC2000mkII we had. No more firing it over your shoulder to do things, or worry that you aren't aiming it right.
We have all the lighting tied in now (pause and stop bring the lights up, play dims them). It took a while to get everything set up, but I'm glad I have it now. Some things could still be better, but overall I'm still giving a thumbs up.\
Anthrassat1.8t 12-12-08, 11:22 AM Great, thanks for the update, I'm going to give one a shot.
wheely30km 12-15-08, 05:58 AM I own one, with the PCX9200.
Had also lots of lock ups, but setting LCD and key backlight both to 10 sec. seems to solve the problem.
PC music control is not perfect, though :
After a few days, WMP11 started to use 99% of CPU, I didn't find any solution (deleting videos, stopping track information over internet, ... ) that would work, so I switched to iTunes 8.
BUT :
The MediaControl software (MediaControl.exe), which makes the link between the remote and the PC, is often using 99% of CPU during periods of 10sec to 1 minute. During that time, neither the remote nore the PC is responding
PC is not the latest quad core (AMD XP3000+, 500Mo Ram), but that should be enough to play music (even if 40Go) !!
Sad, because when it works, choosing the music on the remote is so comfortable :)
Anthrassat1.8t 12-15-08, 06:50 AM Well, I pulled the trigger and ordered one along with the RF extender. I ended up getting it new off ebay with the pcx9200 for $200 ;)
