I've got a Panasonic H1000D DVD Player that has just stopped working. It says "No Disc" when I put a dvd in.

I cleaned the lens and everything looked clean anyway. When I put a disc in, it doesn't spin, the laser flashes, and the laser carriage moves just a bit, and then the "No Disc" message appears. Can anyone suggest a possible fix.

I know it is outdated, but I paid a boatload of cash for it back in the day and it's still full of high quality components. I don't really want to get rid of it. Please help if you can.

Thanks,

Lester Ames

You've already opened it up? I would blow out any dust and reseat connectors and chips that might need it.

Then I would give up.

Test report on that player: http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/cgi-bin/shootout.cgi?function=search&articles=all&type=&manufacturer=6&maxprice=0&deInt=0&mpeg=0#PanasonicDVD-H1000

Yes, I've opened it up and had actually removed the dvd drive in order to get a really good look at it.

Well, that's too bad.

Funny, I just watched three versions of Hamlet last week with my daughter in preperation for a Classic Lit class. And now i see you've done a review or two. :)

Small world!

Anyway, maybe I will try to sell it 'as is' to someone who may want it for the chasis and other components.

Thanks.
